While adoption has always been a loving, compassionate decision that many birth mothers (and fathers) have made, adoptions have changed greatly over the years. For example, did you know that you can make an adoption plan and still be involved in your child’s life?
In an open adoption, you can select, meet, and get to know the family who will be adopting your child while you are still pregnant. You can also stay in contact and involved throughout your child’s life.
In a semi-open adoption, you choose the adoptive parents from a profile, most often provided to you by an adoption agency.
In a closed adoption, you won’t meet or have contact with the adoptive parents. This option can be preferable if you’re concerned about your privacy.
